Blades in the Dark is a tabletop role-playing game about a crew of daring scoundrels seeking their fortunes ...in an industrial-fantasy city.
Expect "heists, chases, escapes, dangerous bargains, bloody skirmishes, deceptions, betrayals, victories and deaths, and above all riches if you have the guts to grab them."
You can learn more at bladesinthedark.com and we highly suggest you pick up a copy in general, I'm a big fan of this system! It features a lot of innovative and compelling mechanics design, like clocks, flashbacks, and downtime activity.
We'll be using all of Blades' rule set, but not the original setting it comes with— Doskvol. We'll be substituting in our own setting!
You'll learn everything you need to know in game! But we know some players like to prep and know what to expect.
We won't explain all of Blades' rules here (again, check out bladesinthedark.com for a great explanation of basic rules; or videos like this or this or this). But we'll explain how we are combining Blades and OMM.
Making your character
Other than getting a copy of the rules to read, everything you need will be in OMM! You'll make a character using typical 5e PHB Kind options, but note they have no mechanical weight here, so pick whatever look you like.
After you create a character, hop into the game, and then you'll want to click their image in the bottom-right of your screen to select a Playbook and fill out your character sheet! This is a BRAND-NEW feature (like, literally, a week old) we're testing, so please be patient as we improve it!

You'll be able to reference and edit this character sheet at any time, and view all the other character sheets in your party.
Leaders of rival crews will have special character sheets for those crews.
"Cohorts" (basically your followers, NPCs that are part of The House) will also have character sheets you can view!
We'll distribute XP together after each session and you can upgrade your character on your own accordingly. Don't worry about joining a session where some PC's may have more upgrades than you— unlike in more tactical games like 5e D&D, it isn't a huge deal if some PCs are "higher level" than others. There are no formal "levels" in this system!
The Crew
All PC's are a member of the same crew: The House. Right now, The House is primarily a transport and trading operation, so we're going to start with the Smuggler crew sheet. At Session 1, this sheet will already be filled out (we'll chat about this on 6/18 during session 0, and some stuff is pre-determined).
